Marion County may be the Horse Capital of the World but the hot summer months have been known to drive enthusiasts away from equestrian related events. But, that’s all about to change. In January 2019, it was announced that Marion County would soon be home to the all-new, state-of-the-art World Equestrian Center. Sitting on 3,200 acres, the World Equestrian Center will be located just west of Ocala, Florida between U.S. 27 and State Road 40.

The World Equestrian Center will include:

  • 4 world-class climate controlled indoor arenas
  • An outdoor stadium spanning 140,000 square feet
  • Luxury boutique shopping
  •  A 5-star luxury hotel with an estimated 260 rooms
  • Many fine dining opportunities
  • Recreation vehicle parking to accommodate 200 vehicles

According to Ocala.com, “The facility hopes to host U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) events as well as Fédération Equestre Internationale(FEI) sanctioned events. Organizers are in the process of applying for consideration of sanctioned events. The facility will hold its own shows until it receives USEF eligibility.” These shows will include hunter/jumper, dressage, vaulting, and reining events.

In addition to the many features and amenities already listed, the World Equestrian Center’s plans include a residential area. This area is expected to include 2,400 new homes ranging from estate homes to condominiums. Construction on the facility is expected to be completed in January of 2021.
