Mad Lab at the Discover Center

Mad Lab is a family-friendly, interactive exhibit, educating guests on the science that inspired Mary Shelley to write her classic monster story, “Frankenstein.” This year marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Frankenstein and what better way to celebrate than with a spooky science themed exhibit. Guests will get to experiment with electricity, build and take apart model internal organs, and there’s even a miniature graveyard where guests can dig up stuffed animal parts and assemble them into a new, crazy monster.
Veterans Day Celebration
When: November 9, 2018

1stAnnual Silver Springs PowWow

Join the Oklevueha Band Of Yamassee Indians as they celebrate Native American History Month with their annual Pow Wow celebration. This cultural festival will focus on sharing native histories and inter-tribal cultural teachings with the public. 2018 will be the first year that the long-running Pow Wow, formerly hosted in Orange Springs, moves to its new location at Silver Springs State Park.
This event will feature everything that Silver Springs State Park has to offer – including glass-bottom boat tours, kayak and canoe rentals, trails for hiking and biking, ranger programs, and an onsite restaurant, sweet shop, gift shop, and education center. In addition to this, the Pow Wow will feature cultural speakers, educational displays, artists, demonstrators, food, entertainment, live auctions, and more!

The Ocala Downtown Market (ODM) is the place where a diverse array of farmers, artisans, craftspeople, and food trucks come together to sell their products to customers from Ocala, Marion County, and beyond. A true destination location, ODM is set just blocks off of the Ocala Downtown Square, in a beautiful open-air Market Pavilion. Besides permanent roof cover, the facility also includes large overhead fans, restrooms, a nearby ATM, and water fountains.
Vendors have a variety of booth choices to choose from, including both indoor and outdoor, booths with water and/or electric, and more!
The Market is held on Saturdays from 9am until 2pm. It is the vision of the City of Ocala (which owns the facility) and Ocala Downtown Market, Inc. to see the Market add additional days in the future. This expansion in the number of days and hours the Market is open is expected to occur gradually, over the span of a few years.
