For 20 years, the Pantone Color Institute has released a Color of the Year, which is influenced by anything from art, fashion, social media, and the entertainment industry among others. After much consideration, Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year has been announced as PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral. Described as, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge,” this shade is inspired by the natural beauty of coral reefs and an everchanging environment. A favorite of many, it is no surprise this warm and inviting shade has already begun to make an appearance in home design.

Want to incorporate Pantone’s Color of the Year in your home? Here are some of our favorite ways to do so!

Paint

While a whole room painted in Living Coral may be overwhelming, a fun way to incorporate this color into your home design is with an accent wall. Paired with a lighter complementary color, Pantone’s Color of the Year will draw the eye and warm up any room in your home.

Home Accents

From throw pillows to rugs, the options are endless when it comes to incorporating this color into your home. Interchange textures, shapes, and patterns to fit your style and find what looks best in your home. Looking for a complementary color to create some dimension? Vibrant blues and soft grays pair well with this coral shade.

Furniture

Create an inviting and cozy living space with an accent chair in a variation of this shade. Unsure about taking the plunge and purchasing a chair in such a vibrant hue? Purchase slipcovers to test out this trendy color without the commitment.

Grout

For a bold and exciting look, use grout in Living Coral to add a pop of color to a neutral tile color. This trend looks beautiful on kitchen backsplashes and creates depth by defining the shape of the tile.
