With that in mind, we wanted to shine the light on some of our team members, starting with Jay Elder, Triple Crown Home’s Building Superintendent. Keep reading to get the scoop about what Jay’s job entails, his favorite part about what he does, and how he spends his free time.
What does your job entail?
I set the schedule for the homes we build. Last week I was supervising 15 houses, so I would set the schedule each day, order products and materials, and work with the homeowners if any changes occur. My job is constantly changing from day to day, but I like it.
What do you like about home building?
Working with the homeowners. Being out in the open. Doing my own thing and the satisfaction that comes from building something out nothing.
Why did you choose to work at Triple Crown Homes?
I was actually working for another home builder but when the position opened up at Triple Crown Homes, I made the transition. The company I was working for was a great company, but I felt Triple Crown was better. The company is well run and our team is like a family. I feel blessed to be working here.
What do you love about working at Triple Crown Homes?
I love going to work. I don’t consider it a job or work and I feel lucky to do what I enjoy to do. Our team is full of great people and variances.
How long have you lived in Ocala and what do you like about it here?
I’ve lived here for 15 years. The people. I also like that Ocala is close enough to everything without being too close.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Spend time with my family.
In five years, where will you be?
I haven’t figured out what beach yet, maybe Hawaii. Just kidding—I’ll be doing the same thing I’m doing right now; working for Triple Crown Homes.
What’s a fun fact that people may not know about you?
I’ve been happily married for 34 years.
