The Pantone Color Institue recently announced the 2020 Color of the Year, which is influenced by anything from art, fashion, social media, and the entertainment industry among others. After much consideration, Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year has been announced as PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue. Pantone’s designers describe the shade as, “Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute further explains the choice saying, “We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on. Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
Want to incorporate Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year in your home? Here are some of our favorite ways to do so!
Furniture
Make a statement with a large piece of furniture in this tried and blue shade. A plush velvet couch is a great way to incorporate Classic Blue into your home design and looks wonderful paired with warm-tone accents. Not ready to take the plunge and purchasing furniture in this blue hue? Use slipcovers to test out this trendy color without the commitment.
Paint
Who doesn’t love a bold accent wall? Classic Blue is the perfect way to add a pop of color and visual interest to an otherwise neutral room. If you’re feeling especially daring, consider painting the entire room in this classic shade! Another option is to use Pantone’s 2020 Color of the Year on cabinetry, which offers a fresh take on a long-lasting trend. Using Classic Blue on a bathroom vanity is an awesome way to spice up a neutral bathroom.
Home Accents
While Classic Blue is less vibrant than the 2019 Color of the Year, Living Coral, not everyone will be ready to go all-in on this shade in 2020. Luckily, an array of options for home accent pieces makes it simple to incorporate the color into your home. Look for accents like area rugs, throw pillows, and blankets that can be easily swapped out whenever you feel like it. Top it all of with decor like art, lamps, and wall hangings that feature the cool blue hue.
